Lip augmentation may be performed for a variety of reasons, whether you want to increase volume to thin lips, soften lines or wrinkles around lips, correct asymmetries, or simply beautify your lips for cosmetic enhancement with natural lip fillers.

Lip fillers are classified as a medical procedure so there are some do’s and don’t’s that need to be adhered to. You must be over 18 years of age, a medical consult and facetime with a GP will be performed prior to your treatment to ensure you are fit and healthy for the treatment, your medical history, allergies and medications will be discussed and will stay on a confidential file.

This procedure can cause some discomfort, especially around the cupid’s bow, we apply numbing cream prior to treatment to aid in comfort. The treatment will usually take about 1/2 hour to perform and you should also allow 20 min for the consult. A high-quality hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the lips in a series of injections until the desired result is achieved.

Do avoid aspirin and other anticoagulants such as fish oil and Vit E 3 days prior to treatment and coffee and alcohol on the day of treatment. If you are susceptible to cold sores, lip injections may aggravate the condition, ensure you have a topical anti-viral cream on hand to prevent an outbreak.

Bruising and minor bleeding are also common; we suggest taking arnica and pineapple to assist with inflammation and healing.

Lip fillers usually last 6-9 months and are not permanent. We encourage a 2-week follow-up visit to compare before and after images.
